About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Relational Database Administrator in our Information Technology (IT) Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will support application development; database design, implementation, performance, tuning; database problem diagnosis and resolution; database backup and recovery; and will support the SQL server database infrastructure at VSP.

Minimum Qualifications • Considerable knowledge of Oracle database design, administration, utility, and tools; of database performance and tuning; of database system and security management; and of data migration in a Solaris/Unix environment. • Skills in the use of laptop computers and using standard Microsoft Office applications. • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of database systems management; to develop Unix scripts and write/develop database standards and documentation; to implement security measures to safeguard relational databases; to establish and maintain an efficient technology environment; to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English; to work independently and as a member of a team; and to provide training to others on new techniques and solving technical problems. • High school graduate or equivalent.
