Resource Area for Teaching (RAFT) is seeking a Staff Accountant who can work seamlessly with cross-functional teams providing financial data to help RAFT achieve its mission.The Staff Accountant maintains accurate financial records and oversees essential accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable and general ledger reconciliations. This role assists in monthly and annual financial closing and reporting, ensuring compliance with internal controls and supporting audits. The accountant also helps with payroll processing by auditing and accurately recording payroll expenses.

Sample of duties include but are not limited to:

Financial Record-keeping: Maintaining accurate and organized records of financial transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. General Ledger Management: Recording and reconciling general ledger entries, assisting in month-end and year-end close processes, and preparing journal entries. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Managing accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, managing credit cards, payments, printing checks, collections, and depositing checks in the bank. Expense and Bank Reconciliations: Performing reconciliations for bank statements, credit card accounts, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy. Financial Reporting: Assisting in preparing monthly, and annual financial closing and reports. Compliance and Auditing: Ensuring compliance with internal controls and assisting with audits by providing documentation and explanations for financial data. Payroll Processing: Assisting with payroll processing by auditing payroll and ensuring payroll expenses are recorded accurately in the general ledger. Supporting Financial Projects: Participating in various financial projects, system improvements, or process enhancements to increase the efficiency of the accounting department. Cross-trains within the Finance team and supports other duties as required. Qualifications & Skills:

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations Strong organizational and time management skills. Experience in working with accounting software and databases. Experience with BambooHR or other human resources information systems. Experience with NetSuite or ERP systems and enterprise accounting tools. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Familiar with Google Suite. Ability to learn new tools and processes, cross-train, and adapt in a team-oriented environment. Detailed oriented. Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or other business related field. Three or more years of work experience in finance or accounting roles or related fields. Non-profit experience is a plus.

RAFTs this by providing STEAM Project Kits, Maker Mobile van visits, and makerspace builds STEAM summer camps, tailored educator workshops, and free online learning activity sheets. RAFTs unique found engineering process repurposes donated materials that would have otherwise been sent to the landfill into accessible, low-cost STEAM Project Kits and assembled by volunteers. Educators, and now parents, can become RAFT members and shop at the warehouse store facility for affordable items devoted to hands-on learning.
