Responsibilities:

Noblis MSDs mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) and their missions to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings.

This position is for LPD ECS engineer. The main function of the candidate will be to provide lifecycle support of fielded and future Engineer Control Systems (ECS) on the Landing Platform Dock (LPD) and Landing Ship Medium (LSM) ship classes. This includes shipboard support as well as Land Based Engineering Site (LBES) support. The work to be performed includes all activities associated with various Control Systems, computer program development, testing, equipment harvesting and installation on both in-service and new-ship-construction.

Tasks include performing systems engineering analysis to interface control systems with other new or modified shipboard systems, troubleshooting control system hardware issues at the Land Based Engineering Site/Test Facilities (Philadelphia, PA), and upgrading the cyber security features of the existing and future Control System (CS/IS) variants

Lifecycle support of the supervisory machinery control system which includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Provide design support for integration of equipment in an industrial/shipboard environment
  2. Provide technical input to the design of future ECS systems
  3. Develop, derive, and refine system and software requirements for future fielded systems
  4. Troubleshooting complex problems of future fielded systems (PLC based control systems) both at LBES and shipboard
  5. Review of technical documentation related to future fielded systems
  6. Provide test support at LBES
  7. Provide shipboard SW & HW installation support at LBES
  8. Develop test procedures to exercise requirements of future fielded systems


Required Qualifications:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Computer Engineering is required
  2. 0-3years of experience in electrical engineering or computer engineering as it pertains to control systems in an industrial environment
  3. Experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems or the ability to take various PLC classes for familiarity.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Successful applicants must either have an active government security clearance or the ability to receive approval upon position acceptance.
  2. Must have a valid US passport or the ability to obtain one upon position acceptance.

Essential Skills:

  1. Knowledge of the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures associated with industrial control systems
  2. Proficiency in reading electrical diagrams
  3. Proficiency in the use of test tools associated with industrial control systems
  4. Proficiency in the use of diagnostic tools associated with industrial control system troubleshooting
  5. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications
  6. Proficient in basic computer/laptop use including advanced operations
  7. Basic knowledge of network troubleshooting tools
  8. Basic Technical writing ability
  9. Self-motivated and ability to complete tasks efficiently
  10. Ability to communicate effectively within an integrated team environment

Additional Preferred Skills:

  1. Familiarity with IEC 61131-3 standard
  2. Familiarity with Rockwell, Siemens, or other PLC systems
  3. Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems
  4. Experience upgrading hardware platforms of Legacy Embedded Systems
  5. Experience with ISO/IEC/IEEE Systems and Software Standards

Additional Information:

  1. This position requires the candidate to travel at least 20% of the time.
  2. This position requires an onsite workload at LBES for at least 50% of the time.

Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis total compensation package for employees.

Posted Salary Range:
USD $61,600.00 - USD $96,250.00 /Yr.
