Using unique expertise in the fields of materials science, surface science, optics, biochemistry and biology, the segment provides innovative solutions that improve productivity and enable breakthrough discoveries.Scope of Position: Completes engineering and automation projects in a manufacturing environment. Specifies, procures, and completes projects to automate production processes, improves machine controls, and install machine data reporting. Supports automation and controls in a manufacturing environment. Designs new electrical controls systems and improves existing electrical controls systems. Manage projects from design to implementation, including defining project scope, determining required resources, establishing equipment specifications, providing system startup services, developing processes, and executing validation protocols. Ensures compliance/improvement of quality systems in manufacturing (i.e., ISO, QSR, GMP). Participate in new product development and process improvement projects as a core team member or core team leader.Day to Day Responsibilities:Lead upgrades on existing equipment to improve process reliability and costs with cross functional support from operations, maintenance, facilities, and qualitySupervise the installation, startup, testing and debug of new or modified manufacturing equipment, controls, and measurement solutionsManage capital equipment projects and vendors from concept through implementation ensuring that all performance specifications and project objectives are on schedule and on budgetDevelop specifications for the procurement or upgrade of industrial control systems (software, hardware, utilities)Recommend and implement changes to control hardware and software versions to keep systems current and supportablePerform hands-on technical troubleshooting and process improvements on manufacturing equipment and measurement solutions. Use root cause analysis to eliminate process problemsProvide training to engineering, maintenance, and operations staff as needs on controls solutions and machine operationEnsure compliance of quality systems in manufacturing (i.e., ISO, QSR, GMP) with applicable documentation updates (programs, drawings, work instructions, etc.)Direct and oversee the activities of internal and external resources during the completion of project work, process troubleshooting and machine improvement activities. Ensure work adheres to company standards, and local/state/federal codesWork as a member of the Electrical Support Team that responds to manufacturing process upsets or plant system downtime events during off hours as neededDeliver strong project leadership skills through the project initiation, planning, implementation and closeout phasesAdditional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesRequired Education and Experience:BS in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field4 years of experience (Co-op experience accepted) troubleshooting process and electrical equipment and PLC software applicationsDemonstrated experience with industrial equipment standards or equivalent such as NFPA 79, NFPA 70E, UL508ADemonstrated experience troubleshooting electrical equipment, PLC programs, sensors, valves, motors & drivesExperience with CAD Software (AutoCAD/ePlan) for electrical design workExperience with PLC controlled high speed automated assembly equipmentExperience with PLC manufacturers: Allen Bradley, Siemens, and OmronDesired Skills: Familiarity with different inspection techniques for various glass defectsKnowledge of image processing algorithms and measurement toolsApplication experience using vision tools for the inspection of transparent "clear" glass or polystyreneHigh speed inspection and part handlingExperience in a GMO regulated industry- Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage or Medical DeviceExperience in Project Management involving automation equipment, building controls, or facility maintenanceExperience in troubleshooting and programming Industrial Robots such as Fanuc, Epson, StaubliThis position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $85,524.00 - $117,596.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
