Job Description:

Dewberry's MEPS Infrastructure team is seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Raleigh, NC specializing in Medium Voltage Distribution. The successful candidate should have experience providing electrical distributions system for large campuses, municipalities, and federal campuses. Experience should include conducting power system analysis, designing protection and control systems. Experience modeling and designing medium voltage system is required. Duties include mentoring, training, and leading an effective team of electrical engineers and designers.

You will be joining a team of highly skilled, experience, and dedicated electrical professionals focus on designing the electrical infrastructure that interconnects your healthcare, higher education, and federal campuses. At Dewberry you will develop your technical knowledge in microgrids, medium voltage distribution, SCADA, and power system studies as you execute a full range of services to our national clients. As part of the MEPS Infrastructure electrical team you will shape the impact renewable energy is utilized by our client in meeting their decarbonization and electrification goals. Your design will combine co-generation, solar generation, battery energy store systems, and complex control system to improve the reliability of our nations infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

Department manager responsibility is to lead a team of engineers in order to execute projects. A successful department will need the following technical knowledge:

    • Experience with medium voltage design project for large campus utilizing below ground distribution.
    • Experience with electrical protection and control design.
    • Experience with switchgear design.
    • Develop protective relay settings. Experience with SEL relay are preferred.
    • Develop medium voltage specification for protection and control systems.
    • Develop engineering hour estimate and proposals for power system studies.
    • Assist in developing proportional material and conduct presentations.
    • Technical and Quality oversight of all project work for discipline area.
    • Establishing/improving standards for discipline area.
    • Adherence to discipline project budget. Review and provide updates on project budgets at milestone dates. Reviewing discipline budgets weekly.
    • Identify staff performing design of the project, along with a senior staff member if required.
    • Identify Engineer of Record.
    • Identify milestone dates when each discipline should provide information, at each phase, to allow sufficient time to good design coordination.
    • Provide 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions, technical and cost estimates.
Required Skills & Required Experience:
  • BS in electrical engineering
  • 5 plus years of PSS operation experience or industrial projects.
  • PE is required.
  • Must have experience designing electrical systems and producing design deliverable
  • Proven leadership skills delegating to engineering and design staff.
  • Must be a self-starter with initiative, drive and determination.
  • Candidate must have a good working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Life Safety Codes, and other related Codes.
  • Good verbal, writing and interpersonal skills are essential for coordination with other disciplines, and client interface.
