Job Summary:
Sagos Tavern is looking for a motivated Dishwasher/Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. This hybrid role is essential to keeping our kitchen running smoothly by ensuring all dishware and kitchen is clean and kitchen prep tasks are completed efficiently. You'll split your time between washing dishes, cleaning, organizing and assisting the kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow within a culinary environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Dishwashing Duties:
- Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, glassware, and kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashers or by hand when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized dishwashing station and kitchen.
- Ensure proper storage of all clean dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Sweep and mop kitchen floors, take out trash, and perform other cleaning duties as required.
- Follow all sanitation and health guidelines.
- Assist chefs and line cooks with food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients, and portioning food items.
- Ensure that food prep areas are kept clean and organized.
- Properly store ingredients and maintain inventory of kitchen supplies.
- Assist with basic cooking tasks such as prepping sauces, dressings, and other menu items as directed by the head chef.
- Adhere to food safety and handling procedures at all times.
- Assist with kitchen setup and breakdown as needed.
- Regularly clean and sanitize food prep surfaces, sinks, and other high-contact areas.
- Sweep and mop kitchen floors, ensuring the kitchen is kept clean and free of debris throughout the shift.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, countertops, and storage areas as needed to maintain a sanitary work environment.
- Perform deep cleaning tasks, including scrubbing walls, cleaning drains, and maintaining ventilation hoods and filters.
- Assist with end-of-shift cleaning, including wiping down all surfaces, removing trash, and ensuring the kitchen is in top condition for the next shift.
- Previous experience as a dishwasher or prep cook is a plus, but not required; we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Strong work ethic and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- A team player with a positive attitude who is willing to assist in all areas of the kitchen.
- Ability to follow directions, including recipes and safety protocols.
