Graduate Electrical Engineer

Pennoni is currently hiring for a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) team at our office in Philadelphia, PA

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with design of normal & emergency systems (i.e.: power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems) for various applications under supervision of senior-level Design team members.
  • Perform engineering calculations (i.e.: power demand, voltage drop, and lighting photometry calculations).
  • Develop detailed electrical system schematics; this includes performing analytical circuit functionality and making any necessary system modifications required to meet project specifications.
  • Support overall electrical systems development as well as build support.
  • Coordinate with internal & external Design team members to ensure constructability of building systems.
  • Interpret / apply knowledge of MEP-related standard codes & guidelines (e.g.: NFPA, NEC, etc.) as well as construction code requirements.
  • Review submittals and shop drawings under supervision of senior-level Design team members.
  • Perform project site surveys, punch-lists, and design reviews.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
Basic Requirement:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related technical discipline) - RECENT GRADUATES ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY!
Preferred Qualifications:
  • FE / EIT is a plus.
  • Professional experience with MEP engineering; MEP design experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of the National Electric Code [NEC], especially with relation to the preparation of compliant systems and component specifications.
  • Working knowledge of engineering tools (e.g.: CAD, BIM, etc.); experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit is preferred.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret engineered diagrams.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, BIM, etc.); experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Revit is a plus!
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment (with both co-workers and clients) with minimal supervision while displaying a positive attitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in an energetic and challenging work environment on a variety of projects; this person will be expected to demonstrate a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
