Description
The Office of Multi-Cultural Services area of Human Services Public Health is seeking an Office Specialist III, preferably Somali bilingual, to be part of a team that provides Hennepin County residents access to information services, and supports their needs allowing them to live healthy, safe, stable, and independent lives.

In this position, you will:
- Greet and assist walk-in clients who have limited English proficiency.
- Answer and navigate clients' questions/concerns.
- Enter client's information into appropriate databases including Q-flow, Broader Needs Assessment (BNA), etc.
- Serve as a contact person to communicate with Outreach Liaisons, interpreters, supervisors and other affiliated with the office.
- Answer phone and respond to voicemails.
- Train new staff, volunteers, interns, etc. on front desk duties.
- Assist clients with paperwork.
- Order supplies when needed.
- Assist the leadership team with special tasks and projects.
- One of the following:
- Two years or more of office clerical experience.
- Two years or more of related post-high school education.
- 18 months or more of office clerical experience and completion of the

- Using databases and computerized systems to perform data entry where accuracy and productivity are essential.

- Working with individuals from different cultures and/or individuals whose first language is not English.
- Ability to:
- Assist residents, community partners, and staff members with tact and discretion.
- Handle multiple problems and assignments simultaneously, and work independently with minimal direction.
- Proofread numbers, correspondence, and other written materials for spelling, grammar, and format accuracy.
- Recognize and respect cultural differences and provide culturally appropriate services.
- Perform administrative tasks like taking meeting minutes on a rotating basis for unit meetings, helping with special projects or other tasks as assigned.
