Job Purpose
Looking to add electricians to our weekend shift which works Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 6am - 6pm.
As a locomotive electrician, your responsibilities are to install, maintain, and repair critical electrical systems on a locomotive and locomotive components.

Key Job Elements
•Installs and maintains electrical wiring and equipment, such as motors, generators, air-conditioning units, electrical outlets, and lighting fixtures of railroad locomotives;
•Measures, cuts, threads, bends, assembles, and installs conduits that connect to control panels and junction boxes, using hacksaw, pipe benders, pipe-threading tools, and other handtools;
•Splices wires and solders connections to fixtures, outlets, and equipment;
•Tests circuit connections, using electrical test equipment;
•Read precision instruments, micrometers, and gauges;
•Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and repair EMD control systems;
•Reads locomotive blueprints & schematics to make needed repairs;
•Repairs electrical equipment, such as panel lighting, circuit breakers, junction boxes, voltage regulators, and reverse current relays;
•Complete and document jobs in a timely manner per requirements/work instructions.
Qualifications and Experience
•Previous electrical experience required, preferably industrial;
•Basic computer skills;
•Mechanical aptitude;
•Experience reading and interpreting blueprints;
•Experience in interpreting circuit schematics;
•Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications-both general and technical);
•Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions);
•Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills);
•Basic Math skills;
•Certified/Licensed Electricians OR Residential / Commercial / Industrial Marine/Aircraft / Locomotive preferred.
Essential and Physical Activities Functions:
•Strength - Position requires lifting of 50lbs. Requires stamina and strength to work in tight and confined spaces while repairing locomotive or locomotive components;
•Motion - Position requires standing majority of the day. Frequent walking, squatting, kneeling and climbing of steps and stairs;
•Vision/Hearing Requirements - Position is exposed to high levels of noise and vibration from using tools. Position is exposed to cutting torches and welding operations. The use of proper PPE is required. The Position requires the ability to read QWI and schematics and understand instructions;
•Work Environment - Position can be located inside or outside, dependent on situation. When inside, the employees are subject to temperature extremes in non-temperature-controlled environments. When outside employees are subject to all weather elements. In both cases employees will work with oils and other lubricants;
•Emotional Demands - Employee is expected to work and cooperate as part of team in order to meet production requirements;
•Safety - Position is safety sensitive as it requires working in and around live tracks and operation and repair of heavy equipment. Position requires strict adherence to safety policies (i.e blue flag) and use of all PPE.
