SUMMARY

The Trade Specialist Electrician position is responsible for providing general and preventive electrical maintenance on property related to, but not limited to, Ellis Park Racing Operations, as outlined below, in accordance with Ellis Park Racing & Gaming (the "Company") policies and procedures.

This position is accountable for performing skilled maintenance tasks with a primary emphasis on electrical maintenance related to maintenance repairs, rehabilitation, and construction projects for buildings, equipment, and systems. This position is additionally responsible for, but not limited to, inspection of all electrical aspects of facilities while ensuring safety and compliance by following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints. The Trade Specialist Electrician position will report directly to the Facilities Manager.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electronic principles, wiring specification codes, properties of various materials, and the principles of operation and application of equipment.
  • Repairs, constructs, adjusts, modifies, installs, and services various types of electronic and electrical machinery and equipment throughout the property as required.
  • Plan new or modified installations to minimize material waste, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
  • Prepare schematics showing the location of wiring and equipment or follow diagrams and blueprints to ensure concealed wiring is installed before future walls, ceilings, and flooring are completed.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit. Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
  • Install or connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
  • Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
  • Connect power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and install grounding leads.
  • Test circuit continuity to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
  • Observe the functioning of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Perform normal functions of Maintenance Mechanic when not performing electrical work.
  • Identify and repair faulty equipment or systems as needed.
  • Layout, install, and maintain various electrical equipment, such as automatic controls, switchboards, control panels, etc. Establish secondary distribution center balance loads and wire circuits with a large number of units and connections.
  • Responsible for replacing defective wiring, making connections for new electrical installations, replacing fuses, repairing and installing electrical fixtures and motors, replacing parts on motors such as brushes, maintaining and installing wiring connections on control panels, fans, motors and starting devices, blowers, etc.
  • Standard construction PPE must be worn on all job sites, including a hard hat, hi-vis, gloves, eye protection, steel-toed boots, long sleeves, and a harness/double lanyard (if applicable). All workers must adhere to OSHA and state and local regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintains performance and maintenance records of all equipment worked on or assigned duties.
  • Journeymen must have 4+ years' of electrical experience on commercial job sites
  • Journeymen must possess all basic hand and power tools, cutters, adjustable and combination wrenches, drive socket set up to ¾", crimping tool, wire stripper, channel locks, voltmeter, and tool belt.
  • Special consideration will be given to candidates with valid electrical licenses or safety certifications.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
  • Licensed Journeymen must have 3+ years' of electrical experience
  • Understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Use of hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, jacks, and hoists.
  • Knowledge of frame carpentry for renovation projects is a plus
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license
