Chicopee Inc. in Mooresville, NC seeks Controls Engineer to serve as a site technical resource for automation support for the design, development, and upgrade of machine controls. Support continuous improvement efforts to include programming modifications of machinery and equipment, specification and procurement of new equipment and equipment installation and start up. Job duties include: Control System Synthesis, Troubleshooting Electrical Machinery, and Troubleshooting Electronic Machinery.

Responsibilities:

The Controls Engineer responsibilities include:

1. Designing, developing, installation and upgrade machine controls for assigned manufacturing machinery and equipment;

2. Fully utilizing all ISO procedures;

3. Serving as automation technical resource for continuous improvement and capital projects efforts;

4. Identifying and initiating improvement projects that help meet site goals;

5. Providing PLC and drive support for plant equipment to include but not limited to Siemens and Allen Bradley;

6. Supporting Pi data collection software;

7. Developing electrical design, schematics and drawings using AutoCAD;

8. Documenting electrical modifications made to equipment (i.e. updating schematics, drawings, work instructions, etc.);

9. Interpreting mechanical design drawings for electrical requirements;

10. Reviewing, repairing and redesigning legacy code;

11. Troubleshooting issues with existing installed systems;

12. Preparing plan of corrective action for equipment identified as potential to fail;

13. Preparing cost justifications for projects;

14. Supporting and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement, quality, high performance and process excellence;

15. Originating and process emergency work orders when needed;

16. Remaining familiar with new equipment and assisting in training other technicians;

17. Ensuring compliance to all safety policies and procedures. Establishing, supporting and maintaining a safety first culture;

18. Accountable for employee safety through active engagement in safety activities and provide clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations;

19. Supporting and investigating situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk;

20. Performing risk assessment activities by driving prioritized corrective and preventative actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks;

21. Conducting required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.);

22. Completing incident investigations, root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner;

23. Staying informed of process changes which may affect the normal operation of the equipment; and

24. Ensuring ISO compliant records are maintained.

Qualifications:

Education/Work Experience

Master Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
