Join our client in Alexandria as an Audio Visual Hardware Engineer! In this vital role, you will ensure seamless audiovisual experiences by maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing AV systems across multiple locations.

You'll support day-to-day conferencing needs, help design and implement next-generation conference rooms, and play a key role in enhancing collaboration through high-quality AV solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and troubleshoot AV systems, including Crestron, Extron, and Shure technologies.

  • Support virtual and onsite meetings with tools like Zoom, Teams, and Webex.

  • Perform system maintenance, conduct room checks, and document activities.

  • Assist with conference room design, standards development, and customer site surveys.
Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience with enterprise AV systems.

  • Proficiency with unified communication platforms and AV control systems.

  • Ability to work onsite, including nights and weekends.

  • Valid driver's license (CTS or Crestron certifications are a plus).

responsibilities:
Audiovisual Hardware Engineer

The Audiovisual Hardware Engineer will play a crucial role in providing a reliable and consistent technology experience by keeping all audiovisual technologies up-to-date and functioning optimally. The engineer will be on the City of Alexandria's Audiovisual team within the Information Technology Services department and provide audiovisual hardware expertise.

Additionally, the engineer be responsible for aiding in the designing, planning, implementing, and supporting the next generation of conference rooms. Your efforts will be essential in facilitating effective collaboration through maintaining high standards of audio and video streaming services.

Examples of the candidate's daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Support the day-to-day audiovisual conferencing needs, including assisting with virtual and onsite meeting support.

  • Organize and document all audiovisual conferencing equipment.

  • Keep documentation on all maintenance activities including any equipment changes and incident reports.

  • Provide daily systems room checks to ensure technical features are running optimally prior to room usage.

  • Perform system maintenance as scheduled and work with vendors as required.

  • Troubleshoot systems and repair routine issues at multiple city sites.

  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment at multiple city sites.

  • Provide training and training material, including advanced training for the technical support and services personnel and directs easy to understand basic training for the end-users of the systems
The candidate should be comfortable performing the following:

  • Provide, setup and run conferencing technologies for special events and large offsite meetings.

  • Coordinate with meeting host and audiovisual team members to confirm full understanding of meeting objectives.

  • Work with vendors and team members to repair and troubleshoot equipment to ensure that meetings take place on schedule.

  • Install, configure, integrate, test and repair videoconferencing and integrated audiovisual technologies (videoconferencing, multimedia, displays, video projection systems, audio reinforcement systems, cameras, microphones, document cameras, streaming technologies, etc.) and collaboration technologies.

  • Integrate and configure Crestron control systems and touch panels (or similar technology).

  • Assist with gathering conference room requirements, designing conference spaces, and developing conference room standards.

  • Perform customer site surveys, including collecting and recording existing detailed operational, functional and technical requirements, and assist with developing and reviewing project scopes.
The candidate should have technical experience with the following:

  • Technical knowledge of current conference room technology such as Crestron, Extron, Dante, Biamp, Polycom Codecs, and Shure Microphones.

  • Solid knowledge of Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex and other unified commination platforms.

  • Video Production switcher (such as TriCaster) and Audio Mixing experience a plus.

  • Ability to read as built drawings and trace in rooms/racks.

  • Systems design and design-review experience.
The candidate should be able to meet the following requirements:

  • 3 years of experience with troubleshooting videoconferencing, audio conferencing, and integrated audiovisual technologies in a large enterprise.

  • Ability to work onsite and to work nights and weekends.

  • Ability to lift at least 30 pounds and able to move freely within the workplace.

  • Possess a valid driver's license.

  • Certified Technical Specialist (CTS), Visual Technician (AVT) certification and/or Crestron Digital Media certifications are a plus.
