Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible to provide general assistance to and may be responsible for the direction and performance of a subset of principal areas of responsibility of the Project Manager. Accountable for project financial performance. Single or multiple project assignments may be required.

Responsibilities:

Provide general assistant to, and may be responsible for, the direction and performance of a subset of the principal areas of the project – including utilization of CPM software to manage and update project scope, schedule, and budget.

Manage 7+ active capital design/construction projects ($75,000-$1,000,000) with varying complexity, in both GMP and non-GMP areas, including but not limited to clean rooms, pharmaceutical injectable filling lines, dirty utilities, and general facility improvements.

Responsible for project financial performance, including cost estimating, cash flow projections, and spend forecasts.

Draft and submit CPA documentation to obtain funding approval.

Lead and attend weekly project meetings with different teams comprised of client, consulting firm, and vendor stakeholders. Responsible for reviewing past meeting notes, setting meeting agendas, and issuing new meeting minutes.

Manage engineering design teams consisting of a variety of personnel, such as Electrical Engineers, Process Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Structural Engineers, Instrumentation & Controls Engineers, and Architects.

Oversee construction management and validation contract firms to ensure smooth project execution. Support the construction of assigned project(s) to ensure work is performed in conformance with the project objectives and deliverables agreed to by the project team and owners, including:

Bidding support and document control

Verification of as-builts, supporting quality control, supporting site safety

Work with local and global vendors to coordinate design and delivery of equipment and components and execute equipment receiving process.

Support project tracking and change management

FAT/SAT planning, verification testing documentation creation and execution, and coordination with the construction trades.

Working with equipment vendors, trades contractors and construction services to assist with coordination of construction/installation.

Assist with asset capitalization and project close-out documentation and activities.

• Coordinate with internal groups on site to ensure project needs are met as part of the overall scope for both existing and upcoming projects. These groups include Maintenance, Quality, Automation, Operations, Microbiology, Labs, Packaging, and Environmental Health & Safety.

Qualifications: Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management degrees or equivalent

Up to 5 years of applicable experience, preferably in a design firm or field construction setting

Able to work on-site to manage design and construction projects

Open to extensive travel (50%+)

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstration of leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Team-oriented individual capable of coordinating and managing others

Understanding of project execution and project delivery in a design or construction setting
