Position Summary

The Safety Ambassador is responsible for the safety and security of the UCLA Housing facilities guests, staff members and physical assets. Incumbent acts as a liaison with the University of California, Los Angeles Police Department, Fire Department and other emergency departments. The Safety Ambassador performs routine tasks such as daily customer service interactions with residents and guests, perimeter checks, and completes daily shift reports. Incumbent also completes incident reports as necessary and operates under the direction of Safety and Emergency Planning. Must be available for graveyard shifts, weekends, and some holidays.

Qualifications

1-2 years experience in security, loss prevention or related field (Required) 2-3 years experience in security, loss prevention or related field (Preferred) 1-2 years working knowledge of security and safety procedures (Preferred) At least one year of experience in security, loss prevention or related field. (Required) Working knowledge of security and safety procedures. Demonstrated ability to address emergency situations. (Required) Ability to set goals and priorities, which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities, when faced with fluctuating workloads, pressure of deadlines and competing requirements. (Required) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, coworkers, and other University personnel and interact diplomatically with a diversified public. (Required) Working knowledge of surveillance and access control systems. (Preferred) Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite products. (Required) Ability to work harmoniously and cooperatively as a team member. Ability to perform duties independently and with a great degree of accuracy, while meeting established deadlines. (Required) Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature. (Required) Skill in speaking concisely and logically, using grammatically correct language to convey information and explain policies and procedures in a professional manner. (Required) Experience in writing routine business correspondence and reports using grammatically correct language. (Required) CPR and First Aid Training certificate. (Preferred) Ability to drive a University vehicle in order to travel to various work locations to perform patrols and inspections and respond to circumstances as they arise. (Required)
