We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless, and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation aircraft. This position is either onsite in Fort Worth or at other Bell locations, such as Huntsville, AL or Wichita, KS. FLRAA Software Reliability Engineer Bell is seeking a self-motivated Software Reliability Engineer to join Bell's Advanced Vertical Lift Systems team and support the FLRAA Bell V-280 Valor program. The Aircraft Software Reliability role will integrate with Bell and supplier software development teams, software qualification team, and the reliability and maintainability (R&M) team. This position will be part of a diverse team of engineers capable of executing in a challenging and fast-paced environment. The position will be at the forefront of emerging software system safety techniques and software reliability techniques. Embedded software engineers with interest in learning and implementing processes for improving software reliability should apply. What you'll be doing as the FLRAA Software Reliability Engineer: Receive training (formal or informal) on IEEE 1633 software reliability standard. Work with Bell R&M Engineering for training on FLRAA V-280 software reliability approach. Perform software reliability activities per IEEE 1633. For example, root cause analysis, failure modes and effects analysis, fault tree analysis, reliability predictions, test effectiveness, sensitivity analysis, etc. Review software reliability data from Bell and supplier teams. Coordinate and compile software metrics from Bell/supplier teams on various aircraft systems in order to predict and measure software reliability from concept definition through development, production, and product fielding. Maintain metrics and attributes aircraft computer software configuration items (CSCIs) for V-280. Work with Bell R&M Engineering and Bell/supplier design teams on various aircraft systems to influence development, testing, and fielded software to incorporate reliability growth. Represent Bell with military/industry at Reliability and Maintainability Working Groups and Aircraft Software Working Groups. Provide guidance to Bell engineering teams and suppliers relative to software reliability. Coordinate and produce V-280 software reliability contractual documentation required by military customer. Coordinate, compile, and deliver an aircraft system Maintainability and Built-In-Test (BIT) demonstration plan. Coordinate and maintain software reliability metrics by utilizing BIT and Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) databases. Utilize BIT and FRACAS databases to analyze and recommend improvements to diagnostic detection/isolation methods to reduce ambiguities and fault isolation troubleshooting times. Coordinate, compile, and deliver a V-280 software FMEA and Failure Modes and Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) based on Bell and supplier subsystem level FMEA/FMECA data. Qualifications Skills You Bring To this Role: Must have experience and demonstrate knowledge of developing and testing embedded software for aircraft systems per RTCA DO-178B/C. Must have experience with C / C code and other programming languages used in aircraft embedded systems. Familiarity with relevant standards such as RTCA DO-178B/C, RTCA DO-331, RTCA DO-254, SAE ARP4754A, SAE ARP4761 for commercial and military qualification and certification of aircraft systems. Familiarity with Communication Standards such as ARINC 429, RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485. Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective working relationships. Demonstrated Communication Skills needed to brief top-level management, customers and/or large groups on an occasional-to-frequent basis. Experience with developing or testing programmable logic devices for aircraft systems per RTCA DO-254. Experience with VHDL, Verilog, or other programming languages used in aircraft programmable logic devices is preferred. Familiarity with Reliability analyses (de-rating/stress analysis, failure modes and effects analysis, reliability predictions) is preferred. Familiarity with software test plans is preferred. Effective analytical problem-solving skills, the ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy, be able to learn and work with software tools is preferred. Experience at all levels will be considered with a minimum of 2 years specific experience with embedded software development. Preference will be given for additional work in aircraft system safety analysis experience and/or aircraft system reliability analysis experience. Bachelors or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related Engineering or Science discipline is required. Candidates must be eligible to obtain Secret Security Clearance.
