Job Description Job Title: Dual Modality CT/DX Technician
Job Specialty: Radiology - Diagnostics
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Night, 10pm-8am (Thursday overnight at one location, Friday & Saturday overnight at another location)
Guaranteed Hours: 36.00 hours per week
Experience: Must have experience as both a CT Tech and X-Ray Tech
License: ARRT RT(R)(CT)
Certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC)
Must-Have: - Experience in both CT and Diagnostic Radiology
Job Description:
- Perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. - Operate CT scanners and associated equipment proficiently, including scanners, post-processing stations, IV contrast injectors, oxygen and suction equipment, patient transport, and monitoring equipment. - Examine requests and verify orders for each assigned patient. Refer and question orders to the Radiologist before performing exams. - Contact ordering provider when discrepancies appear. - Properly identify patients using two identifiers and assist them while explaining the procedures. - Prepare patients for procedures with full explanations and document appropriately. - Interview patients for a complete medical history and review electronic medical records to obtain pertinent clinical histories, correlating test results and lab data with exams. - Take responsibility for the exam from initiation to completion of dictated results. - Prepare and administer IV contrast in accordance with protocols and document contrast type and amount when requested. - Evaluate the technical quality of images and consult Radiologist if needed. - Recognize abnormal anatomy and process additional, reconstructed images, or measurements as instructed. - Inform nursing personnel of changes in the patient's condition and initiate life support measures when necessary. Assist in code blue procedures during emergencies. - Practice proper sterile technique and perform invasive procedures following bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies. - Authorized to obtain medication or contrast material as directed by a licensed practitioner. - Practice radiation safety principles for self, employees, patients, and family members. - Report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel. - Operate radiology computer systems for order entry and charge procedures/supplies. Document contrast administration. - Maintain work area in an orderly fashion and assist other medical personnel during exams or services. - Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies, with occasional standing, walking, and sitting. - May stretch, bend, twist, squat, or kneel frequently in daily operations. - Must follow radiation safety guidelines to prevent exposure.
Note: The job may involve exposure to physical conditions such as hard surfaces and proximity to moving equipment.
