Job Title: CT Technologist Job Specialty: Radiology Job Duration: 15 weeks Shift: Day - 12x3 - 9 AM - 9 PM Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years required License: ARRT (CT) Certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC) Must-Have: Trauma, Cardiac, and Stroke experience preferred Job Description: - Perform procedures following departmental protocols and standards. - Operate CT Scanners and associated equipment with proficiency, including scanners, post-processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, oxygen and suction equipment, patient transport, and patient monitoring equipment. - Examine requests and verify orders for each assigned patient; refer questions or discrepancies to the Radiologist. - Properly identify patients using two identifiers, assist them, and offer brief explanations of procedures. - Prepare patients for procedures with full explanations and document on appropriate worksheets. - Interview patients for a complete medical history and review EMRs for pertinent clinical history. - Record medical history on requisitions and correlate other test results with the exam. - Prepare and administer IV contrast per departmental protocols and record type and amount on request. - Evaluate the technical quality of images and consult with a Radiologist if needed. - Recognize abnormal anatomy and process additional or reconstructed images as directed. - Inform appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition. - Initiate life support measures if necessary and assist in code blue procedures during medical emergencies. - Perform CT scanning and assist Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures, practicing proper sterile techniques. - Carry out all invasive procedures following bloodborne pathogen, isolation, and infection control policies. - Obtain medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner. - Practice radiation safety principles for self, colleagues, patients, and family members. - Report malfunctioning equipment to management and clinical engineering. - Operate the radiology computer system to enter orders and charge procedures/supplies. - Document contrast administration in the medication administration record. - Maintain assigned work area neatly and assist other medical personnel during exams or services requiring a CT scan.
