The Assistant Project Manager plays a crucial role in facilitating the seamless flow of technical information between the project management team, fabrication shop, customers, subcontractors, and vendors. This position involves coordinating project details, overseeing steel detailing processes, and maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Job Specific Duties:

Reviews design drawings and specifications for accuracy and completeness; coordinates resolution of discrepancies with stakeholders. Processes shop drawings for fabrication release. Coordinates project sequencing and steel detailing setup, including advance bill of materials and shop and erection drawings. Purchases and procures hardware and non-steel items. Efficiently assists project manager(s) with overseeing project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial constraints. Monitors project schedules and progress, proactively identifying possible delays or problems and communicates any concerns in a timely manner. Provides technical instructions to steel detailers, ensuring compliance with project requirements and Kern Steel detailing standards. Assists in the creation, review, and transmittal of project submittals. Acts as a liaison between the fabrication shop, field, detailers, and other stakeholders to resolve fabrication and erection difficulties. Maintains daily communication with project manager and coordinates detailing efforts of various subcontractors. Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation, plans, and reports. Manages document control, RFIs, and logs to ensure information is complete and current. Ensures industry and project-specific standards are met through quality assurance checks. Innovate procedures, tools, and software to increase coordination and efficiency. Other projects as assigned. Requirements

Education & Experience:

Associate's or bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred. High school diploma combined with additional experience may be acceptable. Minimum three (3) years of experience in construction project management. Must have a valid driver license and insurable driver record. Experience with a fast-paced, results-driven environment. Knowledge of:

Strong client-facing and teamwork skills. General construction required. Structural steel knowledge preferred. Construction software and tools (Micr. Project, Trimble, ProCore, etc.). AISC Code of Standard Practice knowledge preferred. Math and computer skills. Ability to:

Work independently and demonstrate strong time management skills. Read and interpret design drawings and specifications. Be organized, focused, and demonstrate a detail-oriented approach to work.

Salary Description

$70,000 - $95,000 annual
