Job Description:
Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)
Salary: $60,000 - $75,000
Enrollment Management at Binghamton University is seeking a data analyst to join the office. The data analyst will report to the Director of Strategic Enrollment Analysis and will work collaboratively with staff in Enrollment Management and other units across the university. This position has the opportunity for a hybrid (remote/on-campus) work arrangement, pursuant to SUNY policy.
The data analyst will:
* Build queries to pull, clean, reshape, and integrate data from various sources
* Create recurring/automated and ah-hoc reports and visualizations
* Design and build interactive dashboards
* Conduct statistical analyses to guide operational strategy
* Construct and administer survey instruments and analyze survey output
* Build replicable code-based processes
* Troubleshoot and diagnose the causes of inconsistencies and errors in data
Requirements:
* Minimum of a bachelor's degree in statistics, data science, computer science, mathematics, or a related field with a focus on statistical analysis and data management
* Demonstrated understanding of relational database structure and tidy data principles
* Ability to write replicable scripts to query, transform, and analyze data using standard programming software/languages (for example SQL, R, Python, Base SAS, Stata)
* Experience building data visualizations (Tableau, Microsoft BI, SAS Visual Analytics, etc.)
* Experience using statistical research methods
* Ability to extract data via API
* Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills
* Ability to communicate complex concepts and data to non-technical audiences
Preferred:
* Master's degree in statistics, data science, computer science, mathematics, quantitative social science, or a related field with a focus on statistical analysis and data management
* Experience with higher education data and systems, particularly Technolutions Slate and Ellucian Banner or comparable CRM/SIS platforms
* Experience using Base SAS
* Experience administering surveys and pulling data via API in Qualtrics
* Expertise in causal analysis and predictive analytics
