Job Overview:
A law firm seeks an experienced Intellectual Property Consulting Counsel to join their dynamic team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patent litigation, a willingness to learn trademark litigation, and a passion for intellectual property law. This role offers significant responsibility and direct exposure to clients.
Duties:
- Manage and oversee patent litigation cases from inception to resolution
- Conduct pre-trial analysis and develop mitigation strategies
- Handle discovery matters and disputes efficiently
- Take and defend depositions
- Collaborate with experts and review their reports
- Represent clients in court hearings and trials
- Provide clients with strategic legal advice on intellectual property matters
- Stay updated on relevant legal developments and industry trends
- Mentor junior associates and contribute to team development
- Participate in business development and client relationship management activities
Requirements:
- Minimum of 6+ years of patent litigation experience
- Open to learning and handling trademark litigation cases
- Experience in ANDA litigation is a plus
- Strong litigation experience throughout the case lifecycle, including:
- Pre-trial analysis
- Discovery matters/disputes
- Taking and defending depositions
- Working with experts and their reports
- Court hearings and trial
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Educational background in biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, or life sciences preferred
Certifications:
- Admission to the Bar in Washington, DC, or eligibility to waive in
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional written and oral communication abilities
