Job Overview:

A law firm seeks an experienced Intellectual Property Consulting Counsel to join their dynamic team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patent litigation, a willingness to learn trademark litigation, and a passion for intellectual property law. This role offers significant responsibility and direct exposure to clients.

Duties:

  1. Manage and oversee patent litigation cases from inception to resolution
  2. Conduct pre-trial analysis and develop mitigation strategies
  3. Handle discovery matters and disputes efficiently
  4. Take and defend depositions
  5. Collaborate with experts and review their reports
  6. Represent clients in court hearings and trials
  7. Provide clients with strategic legal advice on intellectual property matters
  8. Stay updated on relevant legal developments and industry trends
  9. Mentor junior associates and contribute to team development
  10. Participate in business development and client relationship management activities

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 6+ years of patent litigation experience
  2. Open to learning and handling trademark litigation cases
  3. Experience in ANDA litigation is a plus
  4. Strong litigation experience throughout the case lifecycle, including:
    1. Pre-trial analysis
    2. Discovery matters/disputes
    3. Taking and defending depositions
    4. Working with experts and their reports
    5. Court hearings and trial
  • Excellent academic credentials and references
  • Education:

    1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
    2. Educational background in biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, or life sciences preferred

    Certifications:

    1. Admission to the Bar in Washington, DC, or eligibility to waive in

    Skills:

    1. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    2. Exceptional written and oral communication abilities
    3. High level of professionalism and ethical standards
    4. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
    5. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships
