A law firm in Washington, DC, seeks an experienced Intellectual Property Special Counsel to join its dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patent litigation, be open to learning trademark litigation, and possess the skills necessary to handle cases from inception through trial. Job Description:

Duties:

  1. Manage and oversee patent litigation cases from pre-trial analysis through trial.
  2. Conduct discovery matters and resolve disputes.
  3. Take and defend depositions effectively.
  4. Collaborate with experts and manage their reports.
  5. Represent clients in court hearings.
  6. Provide strategic legal advice to clients on intellectual property matters.
  7. Stay abreast of legal developments in intellectual property law and communicate relevant changes to clients and team members.
  8. Assist in the development and implementation of litigation strategies.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 6+ years of patent litigation experience.
  2. Willingness to learn and engage in trademark litigation.
  3. Experience in ANDA litigation is a plus.
  4. Proven litigation experience throughout the case lifecycle, including pre-trial analysis, discovery, depositions, expert collaborations, court hearings, and trials.
  5. Excellent academic credentials and references.

Education:

  1. A JD from an accredited law school.
  2. An educational background in biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, or life sciences is preferred.

Certifications:

  1. Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills:

  1. Strong analytical and research skills.
  2. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  3. Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
  4. Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  5. Proficient in legal research tools and software.
