A law firm in Costa Mesa, CA, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Life Science IP Partner to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a portable and consistent book of business exceeding $600,000, with expertise in various life science prosecution, transactional, and litigation matters. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership capabilities and a proven track record of success in managing complex intellectual property issues in the life sciences sector.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development:
- Develop and maintain a portable, consistent business book valued at $600,000.
- Cultivate and manage client relationships to drive business growth and client retention.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the life sciences industry.
Legal Expertise:
- Provide expert legal counsel on various life science intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets.
- Handle complex life science IP prosecution, including patent applications, office actions, and appeals.
- Manage transactional matters, including licensing agreements, collaborations, and mergers & acquisitions.
- Represent clients in IP litigation, including infringement actions and disputes.
Leadership and Management:
- Lead and mentor junior attorneys and support staff within the IP practice group.
- Oversee case strategy and ensure the quality and effectiveness of legal services provided.
- Collaborate with other practice groups to deliver comprehensive solutions to clients.
Client Interaction:
- Act as a primary point of contact for key clients, providing strategic advice and guidance.
- Prepare and present legal opinions, briefs, and other documents as needed.
- Negotiate and draft complex IP-related agreements and contracts.
Requirements
Experience:
- Experience in intellectual property law with a focus on life sciences.
- Proven track record of managing a substantial business book and handling complex IP matters.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as biology, chemistry, or a related life science discipline.
Certifications:
- Admission to the State Bar of California.
