Job Overview: A law firm in Portland, OR, seeks a highly experienced and dynamic Life Science IP Partner to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in intellectual property law related to the life sciences sector and a proven track record of managing substantial and consistent business books. This role involves handling various life science prosecution, transactional, and litigation matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage various life science intellectual property matters, including patent prosecution, licensing, and litigation.
- Develop and execute strategies for complex life science IP cases and transactions.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while attracting new ones.
- Provide expert legal counsel on intellectual property issues, including patentability, infringement, and IP strategy.
- Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Collaborate with other partners and practice groups to ensure comprehensive service delivery.
- Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings.
- Stay current with life sciences and IP law advancements to offer informed and strategic advice.
Requirements:
- A portable and consistent book of business valued at $600,000+.
- Extensive experience in life science intellectual property law, including patent prosecution, transactional work, and litigation.
- Proven success in client development and business generation.
- Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to manage and mentor legal teams.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related field is preferred.
Certifications:
- Admission to the Oregon State Bar or the ability to gain admission promptly.
