A law firm in Boise, ID, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Life Science IP Partner to join its team. The ideal candidate will have a substantial portable book of business and a demonstrated history of $600,000+ in portable and consistent revenue. The successful candidate will handle various life science intellectual property matters, including prosecution, transactional work, and litigation while contributing to the firm’s strategic goals and growth.
Duties:
Manage and grow a significant portfolio of life science intellectual property cases, including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets.
Lead and oversee life science IP prosecution, including patent applications, responses to office actions, and appeals.
Provide strategic advice on life science IP portfolios, including risk assessment, protection strategies, and commercialization.
Represent clients in life science IP litigation, including infringement, validity, and enforcement actions.
Negotiate and draft complex IP agreements, such as licensing agreements, collaboration agreements, and technology transfer agreements.
Develop and implement strategies for business development and client retention.
Collaborate with other partners and associates to provide integrated legal solutions and achieve client objectives.
Stay current with developments in life science technologies, industry trends, and legal precedents.
Mentor and train junior attorneys and staff within the practice group.
Actively participate in firm-wide initiatives and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
Requirements:
A minimum of $600,000 in portable and consistent books of business.
Extensive experience in life science intellectual property law, including prosecution, transactional, and litigation matters.
Proven track record of managing and growing client relationships and generating significant revenue.
Deep understanding of life science technologies and their application to intellectual property law.
Strong business development skills and a proactive client acquisition and retention approach.
Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
A bachelor’s degree in life sciences, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Certifications:
Admission to the State Bar in Idaho or the ability to obtain admission.
Skills:
Expertise in life science intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, and trade secret matters.
Strong litigation skills, with experience representing clients in complex IP disputes.
Proven ability to negotiate and draft sophisticated IP agreements.
Excellent business development and client management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in legal research tools and technology.
