A law firm in Costa Mesa, CA, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Life Science IP Partner to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a portable and consistent book of business exceeding $600,000, with expertise in various life science prosecution, transactional, and litigation matters. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership capabilities and a proven track record of success in managing complex intellectual property issues in the life sciences sector.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development: Develop and maintain a portable, consistent business book valued at $600,000. Cultivate and manage client relationships to drive business growth and client retention. Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the life sciences industry. Legal Expertise: Provide expert legal counsel on various life science intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets. Handle complex life science IP prosecution, including patent applications, office actions, and appeals. Manage transactional matters, including licensing agreements, collaborations, and mergers & acquisitions. Represent clients in IP litigation, including infringement actions and disputes. Leadership and Management: Lead and mentor junior attorneys and support staff within the IP practice group. Oversee case strategy and ensure the quality and effectiveness of legal services provided. Collaborate with other practice groups to deliver comprehensive solutions to clients. Client Interaction: Act as a primary point of contact for key clients, providing strategic advice and guidance. Prepare and present legal opinions, briefs, and other documents as needed. Negotiate and draft complex IP-related agreements and contracts. Requirements
Experience: Experience in intellectual property law with a focus on life sciences. Proven track record of managing a substantial business book and handling complex IP matters. Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as biology, chemistry, or a related life science discipline. Certifications: Admission to the State Bar of California. Skills
