Business, Property and Construction Attorney (Hybrid)
Mid-sized women-owned education law firm with statewide practice representing school and community college districts seeks an Associate for its Business, Property and Construction Law Practice Group. Qualified candidates will possess transactional and/or litigation experience and must possess an interest to practice in both areas. Prior work on business, real property, and/or construction matters is preferred but not required. Essential skills for this position include:
- Demonstrated flexibility, initiative, and willingness to work on a broad variety of legal matters
- Excellent judgment and ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks with attention to detail
- The ability to work independently, as well as the ability to work collaboratively as a team player
- Strong analytical, writing, research, and communication skills
- Commitment to providing exceptional client service and maintaining client satisfaction
- Prior public entity representation experience preferred
- Admission to the CA State Bar
This position provides an opportunity to develop a sophisticated practice in a broad range of business, property, and construction matters (both litigation and transactional). Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating to deliver high-quality legal solutions on a wide variety of transactional and litigation matters
- Conducting legal research, managing discovery, and drafting pleadings and motions
- Assisting with dispute resolution, including mediations, arbitrations, and trials
- Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating documents, including but not limited to service agreements, public procurement documents, construction-related contracts, leases, purchase and sale agreements, and Board documents
- Assisting with property acquisition and disposition processes
- Ensuring client compliance with laws and regulatory oversight processes, including without limitation California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), Department of General Services (DGS), Coastal Commission, etc.
- Providing day-to-day advice and counsel to clients
