The Position
Kaufman, Hall & Associates, LLC, is seeking qualified finance professionals to join the Mergers & Acquisitions (“M&A”) team comprised of a group of executives who have advised on many of the largest, most significant and innovative hospital and health system deals, and have lead hundreds of strategic transaction advisory engagements. Using a comprehensive and integrated approach to strategic healthcare partnerships, we provide a range of services to healthcare companies, including buy-side advisory, joint venture advisory, sell-side advisory, strategic options assessments, and valuations.
Depending on the years of experience, qualified candidates will be expected to work closely with the senior leaders and teammates on client engagements providing strategic services to our clients. This position demands a strong transactional background and experience leading all aspects of a deal with minimal oversight.

Primary Responsibilities
- Support or lead the execution of multiple M&A engagements at any given time depending on one’s level, working across various team constructs
- Assume accountability for client interfaces and presentations and ensure overall project/transaction quality
- Over time, expand thought leadership at Kaufman Hall and within the healthcare industry
- Provide technical support, leadership and oversight on client engagements related to all transactions
- Deliver work and manage teams while providing project direction
- On Buy-side engagements: support the strategic and financial evaluation through market and company research, financial modeling and valuation analysis, due diligence, as well as prepare various offer and transaction documentation and support negotiations
- On Sell-side engagements: Lead financial modeling and development of marketing materials, buyer lists, and other process documents, organize/lead calls to prospective buyers or partners, and support all board/management presentations to evaluate strategic options
- Work on responses to requests for proposals and presentations to the target organizations
- Comprehensive financial modeling across financial statements and valuation of healthcare provider and services organizations using generally accepted methodologies including but not limited to income or asset approach, transaction approach, publicly traded comparable approach, or any other relevant valuation approaches
- Support and lead other internal or administrative projects as directed
- Bring creative ideas and different viewpoints to client engagements
- The ideal candidate will join us with a relevant background in Investment Banking from a leading healthcare or Corporate Development internal M&A practice
- Excellent quantitative and financial modeling skills
- Approximately 3 – 7 years of experience (Level dependent)
- Highly proficient technical and analytical computer skills including excellent Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook, as well as various web-based research databases
- Willingness and ability to travel, at times on short notice
- Excellent interpersonal skills and good presentation skills
- A career-motivated professional who is energetic, possesses a superb work ethic, and integrity
- A high degree of integrity and strong moral and ethical standards
- Applicants for employment must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with Kaufman Hall (i.e., H1-B visa, F-1 visa (OPT), TN visa or any other non-immigrant status)
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations
- Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading
- Travel Required: Moderate 20-30%
- The role is based in Chicago. Alternate options are for Nashville, TN or Los Angeles, CA
- Work is regularly performed in a combination of home office, in office, and at client office settings, and routinely uses standard office equipment
- It may require the maintenance of a home office and proximity to an airport for work related travel
