JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs serves as a learner-focused, data-driven leader to provide leadership and management of curriculum development, academic quality, and curriculum continuous improvement. Oversees the development and management of curricula, ensuring alignment with the college's academic standards and goals. Build and manage relationships with educational vendors to support the college's academic programs.

Play a key role in the upcoming conversion of CPS graduate programs from quarters to semesters, with responsibility for overseeing the curricular aspects of this significant transition. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, the Assistant Dean will work closely with faculty and academic leadership to ensure the continuous improvement and excellence of the college's academic offerings. Manage CPS course and curriculum development and enhancement to provide high-quality, effective, and engaging courses for learners. Ensure courses incorporate emerging trends in professional education, meet industry needs, align with college goals, and comply with university, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. Support contract negotiation and manage CPS relationships with education-related vendors.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

70% Curriculum Development & Continuous Academic Improvement

  1. In collaboration with academic unit heads and academic leaders, lead the design, review, and enhancement of CPS curricula across all programs to ensure high-quality, engaging, and effective online and hybrid courses that align with CPS goals, industry standards, and emerging trends in professional education.
  2. Support identifying, recruiting, and managing subject matter experts to develop curricula and enhance academic programs.
  3. Provide leadership for teaching and learning approaches, use of learning technologies, and course design.
  4. Identify opportunities and make recommendations for course enhancements and expanded program offerings to provide an exceptional learner experience.
  5. Foster a collaborative environment to support curriculum development and academic excellence.
  6. Collaborate with academic unit heads to develop and lead appropriate curriculum review and enhancement cycles for all academic programs within the College.
  7. In collaboration with program directors, lead initiatives to ensure that academic programs remain relevant, rigorous, and aligned with current industry trends.
  8. Ensure compliance with all university, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
  9. Identify and utilize relevant data analytics to inform curriculum development, continuous improvement initiatives, and academic quality assessments.

15% Vendor Management

  1. Support contract negotiations with outside vendors related to areas such as semester conversion, instructional technology, course design, and online learning; collaborate with business and finance teams to manage the contracting process.
  2. Build and maintain strong relationships with educational vendors and their representatives.
  3. Serve as liaison between CPS and educational vendors. Address and resolve any vendor-related issues in a timely and effective manner.
  4. Monitor and evaluate vendor performance through regular reviews, ensuring adherence to project timelines, key performance indicators, deliverables, and quality standards.
  5. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to understand college needs and ensure alignment with vendor offerings.
  6. Develop and implement comprehensive vendor management strategies to meet college objectives. Recommend new vendors as needed.

15% Other Duties as Assigned

  1. Perform additional responsibilities, adapting to the evolving needs of the College and taking on new challenges and projects that support the college's mission and goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and skills required for this position are normally obtained through a Master's degree in a relevant field and at least 10 years of experience in curriculum design and development, academic administration, vendor management, or related areas.

  1. Experience developing student-centric online and hybrid programs with structured design, immersive learning, and learner communities.
  2. Proven ability to manage complex projects and work with diverse stakeholders.
  3. Demonstrated leadership ability and success in working with all levels of leadership, faculty, and staff.
  4. Highly effective verbal and written communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to diverse constituencies.
