A prominent law firm based in Sherman Oaks, CA, is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Writer & Strategist with a focus on complex personal injury litigation. The firm specializes in high-value catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to craft persuasive legal narratives, contribute to legal strategy, and handle high-stakes civil litigation cases.
Duties
- Draft and review a wide range of legal documents:
- Discovery motions: motions to compel, oppositions, replies, and protective orders
- Summary judgment materials: oppositions and replies for summary judgment/adjudication
- Evidentiary motions: motions in limine, oppositions, and Daubert/Kelly challenges
- Trial documents: trial briefs, proposed jury instructions, motions for directed verdicts
- Post-trial motions: motions for a new trial, judgment notwithstanding the verdict (JNOV)
- Appellate work: writs, appeal briefs
- Settlement documents: mediation briefs, mandatory settlement statements
- Develop innovative legal strategies to address challenging legal precedents.
- Analyze complex medical and damages issues to craft persuasive legal arguments.
- Collaborate with the legal team to strategize on significant cases.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in high-stakes civil litigation, ideally with a focus on personal injury or complex tort cases.
- Proven success in motions and appeals in both state and federal courts.
- Strong research and legal analysis skills with a deep understanding of California and federal civil procedure.
- Expertise in translating complex medical and scientific data into persuasive legal content.
Education
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Law Review experience preferred.
Certifications
- An active member of the California State Bar in good standing.
