Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director, Field Medical Affairs (Dermatology) to lead and expand our field-based Medical Affairs team within the dermatology therapeutic area. The ideal candidate will have an advanced clinical or scientific degree and extensive experience in field medical affairs leadership within dermatology. This individual will play a key role in both external scientific engagement and internal leadership, overseeing a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) while initially contributing to field-based priorities as needed within their geography.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), providing strategic direction, professional development, and performance management.
- Ensure MSLs are equipped to engage with healthcare professionals (HCPs), key opinion leaders (KOLs), and other external stakeholders, delivering scientific and medical information that aligns with corporate strategy.
- Monitor and evaluate MSL activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and internal policies.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, and Regulatory Affairs.
- As needed, especially prior to expanding the MSL team, serve as the primary medical point of contact for key external stakeholders, including investigators, clinical site personnel, KOLs, and other healthcare providers.
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Contribute to the development and execution of Medical Affairs strategies.
- Provide scientific expertise and insights to help guide internal decision-making, clinical development, and lifecycle management.
- Assist in the development and review of medical materials, publications, and field tools to ensure accuracy and scientific integrity.
Ideal Candidate
- Advanced degree in life sciences (PharmD, PhD, MD/DO, or equivalent) is required.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in field medical affairs, with 2+ years of experience in the dermatology therapeutic area.
- Prior experience in managing and leading a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs).
- In-depth knowledge of dermatology disease states, clinical trial design, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proven track record of establishing and maintaining relationships with KOLs and other external stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic biotech environment with a collaborative, cross-functional mindset.

- Position requires up to 75% travel including a minimum of four times per year for All Hands meetings, as well as regular overnight travel to meet with MSL team, clinical study site personnel, and KOLs, and to attend scientific conferences.
Compensation
The anticipated salary range for candidates for this role will be $225,000-$260,000/year. The final salary offered will depend on several factors, which may include, but is not limited to relevant years of experience, educational background, and geography.
