POSITION OVERVIEW:
Disc Medicine is searching for a Director, Field Medical Affairs that will strategically support the medical objectives of Disc Medicine’s clinical development programs. This role will play a key role in both external scientific engagement and internal leadership, overseeing a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) and contributing to nationwide field-based priorities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of MSLs, providing strategic direction, professional development, and performance management.
Ensure MSLs are equipped to engage with healthcare professionals (HCPs), key opinion leaders (KOLs), and other external stakeholders, delivering scientific and medical information that aligns with corporate strategy.
Monitor and evaluate MSL activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and internal policies.
Strategic Planning & Execution:
Provide internal stakeholders with feedback and actionable insights from interactions and discussions with KOLs and HCPs.
Contribute to the development and execution of Medical Affairs strategies related to field medical.
Serve as a scientific expert and resource, providing accurate support to internal and external stakeholders and timely information about Disc’s clinical data, ongoing research, and programs.
Assist in the development and review of medical materials, publications, and field tools to ensure accuracy and scientific integrity.
Build a trustful and collaborative working relationship with cross-functional colleagues.
REQUIREMENTS:
Advanced Clinical/Science degree or professional credentials required (PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent)
Minimum of 8 years industry experience with 5+ years in a field-based management role
Prior experience in managing and leading a team of MSLs
Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences
Ability to work well under pressure
Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with a variety of internal/external stakeholders and across senior management
Must be intellectually curious, professional, and adaptable
Willingness to travel extensively to engage with KOLs, HCPs, and attend scientific conferences
Strong analytical skills, especially to understand and interpret scientific and clinical research and literature
Expertise in Microsoft Office programs and CRMs is required.
