We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief People Officer (CPO) to join our leadership team. The CPO will be responsible for developing and executing the human resources strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the company, specifically in the areas of talent management, organizational development, performance management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and compliance. The CPO will play a key role in cultivating a positive work environment, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and driving initiatives that support the company's growth and success.
Reporting to the CEO, this leader is a cultural steward for Tatte and is responsible for developing a people-first culture that is rooted in our mission and values of inspiring, caring for and nurturing all team members.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Strategic HR Leadership: Oversee and direct strategies for Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Performance Management, Compliance, Policy Implementation, and Total Rewards. Utilize 360-feedback for continuous program improvement.
- Cultural Stewardship: Champion and integrate diversity, inclusion, belonging, and equity (DIEB) into all aspects of Tatte’s culture. Lead DIEB initiatives and councils, and organize team celebrations, rewards, and recognition programs that reflect Tatte’s values.
- Talent Management: Develop strategies that attract, evaluate, and retain top talent.
- Provide talent management advice to leaders considering promotions, ensuring growth opportunities are communicated to all team members.
- Enhance our rewards and recognition program to ensure it lives up to the Tatte standard.
- Identify talent needs/or gaps across the organization and implement programs to find the right talent against current and future workforce planning strategies.
- Workforce Planning: Collaborate with departments to analyze business goals, identify talent needs, and implement programs to address current and future workforce planning strategies.
- Employee Relations: Ensure consistent, timely, and accurate handling of employee relations issues, maintaining a positive work environment.
- Team Development: Mentor and develop HR, and other team members, fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging.
- Corporate Communications: Oversees all organizational internal communications, ensuring that communications are timely, concise, fun, and foster a sense of inclusion & belonging, and accessible to all team members.
- Compensation & Benefits: Work with the CEO and CFO to design attractive short- and long-term incentive plans for café and support center positions.
- Data Accuracy: Promote a culture of data accuracy across HR functions, maintaining and communicating records as required by law and organizational needs. With a people forward-orientation, uses data to constantly evaluate the success of people-focused programs, processes, and/or initiatives.
- Vendor Management: Negotiate, obtain approvals, and oversee relevant vendor agreements, collaborating with external partners to achieve timely work plans.
- Industry Leadership: Stay current on industry trends, practices, and laws to ensure Tatte remains an employer of choice.
- Budget Management: Contribute to the annual budget and company business plan, ensuring HR expenditures remain within budget.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions/Essential Requirements:
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including days, nights, weekends and holidays as well as emergencies as required.
- Ability to travel (50% +).
- Able to work ten hour-plus shifts, plus ability to stand, sit, squat or walk for extended periods of time, walk up and down stairs, and read.
- Ability to read and speak English proficiently.
- Able to grasp, reach overhead, push, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Position Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience at the VP level or higher overseeing culture/HR and learning & development at a high-growth, high-volume multi-unit organization (hospitality highly preferred).
- Proven track record in developing, growing and executing a holistic people strategy across the organization, while creating a vision and effectively driving change.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with team members at all levels.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills; uses and interprets data to validate plans and implementations.
- Proven commitment to advancing diversity, inclusion, equity & belonging in the work environment.
- Experience collaborating with, managing and building geographically diversified teams.
- Strong business acumen and can contribute at both a strategic and operational level.
- Capable of communicating and influencing decisions across a complex, fast-paced organization.
- Ability to travel.
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or Hospitality Management.
- PHR/SPHR certification.
- Ability to speak and write Spanish a plus.
