Position Overview

Rider University's Registrar seeks an Office Specialist to perform, under general direction and using a comprehensive or specialized knowledge base, routine to highly complex office projects that may impact more than one University department. Operates independently in prioritizing own workload in determining how best to accomplish work objectives. Is proactive in identifying, following through, and resolving various issues. Participates in special projects, as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of standard office equipment required.
  • Computer proficiency required with a strong emphasis on spreadsheets and data management skills, where applicable; the ability to identify technical issues, troubleshoot, and bring to quick resolution.
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills and the ability to operate independently, prioritize and organize own work schedule, multi-task, and meet established deadlines.
  • Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

  • The completion of a satisfactory background check is required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Training/experience in Banner student system and Excel
  • 2-4 years of related work experience preferred.
  • Ability to deal effectively with prospective students, current students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and external agencies in a professional manner. The nature of most of the contacts that this individual has with others is to provide a broad range of academic information, much of which is highly confidential and/or sensitive, and therefore, requires that this person have a comprehensive understanding of FERPA regulations and how such regulations are to be applied in a variety of scenarios.
