A law firm in Boston, MA, is seeking a skilled Insurance and Reinsurance Associate Attorney with 2 to 6 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of insurance coverage issues, including professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance policies. The role requires extensive experience in civil litigation, including drafting legal documents, managing discovery, conducting depositions, and representing clients in court. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in business development, client management, and independent case management. Superior academic credentials and strong research and writing skills are essential.
Duties:
- Provide legal advice on complex insurance coverage issues related to professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance policies.
- Manage and litigate insurance and reinsurance disputes, overseeing cases from inception to resolution.
- Draft and prepare legal documents including pleadings, dispositive motions, and settlement agreements.
- Handle all facets of the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, managing document production, and resolving discovery disputes.
- Conduct depositions and represent clients in court, handling hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.
- Develop and maintain client relationships, providing strategic legal guidance and managing cases independently.
- Engage in business development activities to attract new clients and expand the firm's market presence.
- Collaborate with colleagues on case strategies and legal tactics.
- Stay informed about changes in insurance and reinsurance law and industry developments.
Requirements:
- 2 to 6 years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation.
- In-depth understanding of insurance coverage issues under professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance policies.
- Demonstrated experience in drafting pleadings, handling discovery, conducting depositions, and representing clients in court.
- Preferred experience in business development, client management, and independent management of cases.
- Excellent academic credentials with demonstrated superior research and writing abilities.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Admission to the Massachusetts State Bar or eligibility to practice in Massachusetts.
