Job Overview:
A respected law firm is currently looking to hire an Associate Attorney to join their Workers' Compensation team in San Diego, CA. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers an opportunity to work with a team of legal professionals dedicated to advocating for employee rights. The ideal candidate will have strong legal knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a diverse caseload while contributing positively to a collaborative and fast-paced work environment.
Duties:
- Manage and resolve a docket of Workers' Compensation cases from start to finish.
- Conduct depositions, including witness and doctor depositions (preferred).
- Negotiate settlements and work towards case resolutions.
- Provide guidance and supervision to support staff, including paralegals.
- Maintain a positive and professional workplace environment, setting a leadership example for non-attorneys.
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and all involved parties.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of Workers' Compensation experience.
- Experience in handling a high-volume caseload.
- Comfortable managing both legal and administrative tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct depositions, including medical expert depositions (preferred).
- Must be in good standing with the California State Bar.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Licensed to practice law in California (required).
Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership skills with a focus on mentoring and guiding non-attorney staff.
- Skilled in negotiating and resolving disputes.
