On the MSD site in Eindhoven we develop, build and deliver innovative High End Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM’s).
The position
As an Operations Engineer within this department, you will join a motivated and hard working team in Eindhoven. The focus of this team is on introductions of new cameras and detectors, this in collaboration with R&D and other departments, and support of a variety of released cameras and detectors that are used on our microscopes.
The role is to support the camera business for HE TEM in the broadest way possible. This role needs to be shaped towards an NPI (New Product Introduction) or more an SPR (Sustaining Products) role. For NPI main responsibilities are driving OE PMP work in NPI project. For SPR main responsibilities are; second line fixing in factory and improve product quality.
You will work together with colleague operational engineers, manufacturing, logistics, R&D, suppliers, service, and sourcing, located mainly in Eindhoven. You will however also have close contacts with departmental colleagues in Brno (CZ).Our TEM technology enables and supports Nobel Prize-winning research and played a meaningfull role in the early assessment of COVID19. The impact of your work is visible, and you will actively contribute to the latest breakthroughs in Science!
How you will make an impact? Providing second line support to factory and service in case of technical problems, to ensure the shipping of high-quality systems to its customers. Supports the supply chain with engineering expertise. This includes the analysis of parts for reliability, manufacturability, vendor qualification support and supplier technical quality issues. Participates in supplier audits. Improve parts quality of the products you are responsible for by defining and implementing improvements in a structured project-based way. Crafting and maintaining manufacturing tooling / documentation (e.g. work instructions), defining way of working (factory process flow) and provides training. Participating in or leading New Product Introduction projects according to Product Management Process (PMP) and multi-functional Operations improvement projects.
How you will get here? Bachelor or University degree in a technical area (Physics, electronics, mechatronics) Confirmed experience in a high-tech industry in preferable a manufacturing engineering environment. Knowledge and/or experience with electron microscopy is huge plus. Excellent communication & social skills Be a collaborative team-player with hands-on and can-do mentality. Excellent English language skills (verbal and in writing), Dutch is a huge plus.

On high end Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM) different camera’s and detectors are present. My team within Operations Engineering is responsible for their quality and performance. A physics background for this role is preferred but passion and a practical and pro-active approach are key to make this role a success. In this role you are a key player within operations. Good and clear communication is key as we do have to align with several departments and suppliers worldwide. Together with R&D and partners we work also on new developments to improve functionality and reliability of modules we are responsible for. As part of the Operations Engineering IA&D team you focus on supporting manufacturing to ensure efficient processes and flawless introduction of new features.
