Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Job Specialty: Computed Tomography Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days - Start time varies between 7:30 AM - 8:00 AM, Monday through Friday, and every other weekend. May require holiday coverage. Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Experience: Not specified License: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Job Description: - Specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients and may perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. - Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the exam. - Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examinations. - Prepares the procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies. - Analyzes the anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan. - Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied. - Administers intravenous contrast media utilizing power injectors and monitors the patient for possible reactions, providing immediate care if necessary. - May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure. - Assists the Radiologist in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies. - Performs all imaging procedures with radiation protection principles, including shielding of patients, selection of appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose, and using other ALARA techniques. - Resolves all image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS, including viewing of images in PACS and confirming image/series counts. - Completes all study indexing, including study begin, study end, and the completion of the study in the Radiology Information System. - Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with the Radiologist before performing the study. - Consistently demonstrates team member standards of excellence, including open communication, responding in a timely manner, displaying a positive attitude, fostering innovation, respecting diversity, etc. - Performs all documentation in the medical record as necessary, as well as within the radiology information system, to support all clinical and billing functions. - May work in the hospital with a fixed unit or in a Mobile Unit at a medical center. - May be potentially exposed to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized and exposed to high-voltage equipment or potentially contagious patients. - Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment and/or patients in excess of 10 lbs.
