Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Job Specialty: Computed Tomography Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Midnights, 4 x 10-hour shifts or two 12-hour and two 8-hour shifts Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Experience: Minimum years of experience not specified License: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible Certifications: Healthcare Provider certification required (BLS) Must-Have: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required. Must maintain required hours of continued medical education Job Description: - Specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients - May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations and related duties as required - Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination - Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examination; obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary - Prepares procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies - Analyzes anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan - Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied - Administers intravenous contrast media, including utilizing power injectors; monitors patient for possible reactions and provides immediate care if a reaction occurs - May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure; ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored - Assists Radiologist in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies - Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating the principles of radiation protection - Resolves any/all image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS; verifies image and series counts - Completes all study indexing in the Radiology Information System - Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with Radiologist before performing study - Demonstrates a consistent standard of excellence, including open communication, timely responses, a positive attitude, and respect for diversity - Performs all documentation in medical records and radiology information system to support all clinical and billing functions
