Summary

The Exam Operations Analyst handles a wide variety of certification-specific research (e.g., practice analysis, post-exam surveys, HR Careers study etc.) and exam validation activities associated with the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP certifications. The Analyst focuses on working with large data sets to review, synthesize, analyze and report findings from these data to support the needs of the testing program and to support the work and goals of other departments/divisions within SHRM dependent upon these data. The Analyst also communicates results via reports, marketing collateral, and other communications as needed and contributes to developing new programs if needed (e.g., professional development programs or types of exams), products and services resulting from and relating to the data. Consequently, cross-organizational collaboration plays a large role in this position.

Responsibilities:

Support all research and validation activities around the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP examinations including research and validation studies and other activities; lead interim and full practice analysis projects to complete the work internally including conducting focus groups, writing, programming, fielding, collecting data, analyzing data and preparing technical reports for periodic practice analyses.

Analyze test and related data using statistical packages (e.g., Excel, SPSS, R) to include data cleaning (e.g., for duplicate records), score reporting, post-exam survey analysis and synthesis, processing results reviews, etc.

Manage large datasets of test and related data required to analyze results of practice analyses and other survey or qualitative research efforts such as the periodic practice analyses; primarily responsible and accountable for preparing annual accreditation application data sets.

Demonstrate proficiency in project management to collaborate with leadership to conduct certification-specific research, department-specific research and development efforts.

Develop technical reports describing research activities (e.g., purpose, method, analyses, results, conclusions).

Serve as the point of contact for subject matter experts engaged in practice analyses and other certification-related research for SHRM certification examinations, e.g., the longitudinal HR Careers Study.

Support the development and maintenance of additional resources and products for HR professionals based upon certification research including but not limited to analyzing psychometrics associated with preview items gathered through SHRM Boost platform to determine viability for use in the SHRM Learning System and other SHRM content products.

Collaborate with SHRM Marketing and Communications teams to accurately include research data and results in marketing campaigns for SHRM certification examinations.

Education & Experience Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree in industrial psychology, data science or related field required

Master’s degree, preferred.

Experience

Experience in a high-stakes global testing program/environment or in an association/membership organization is preferred

3 years of work experience is required

Certifications

None required. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP a plus if the candidate already holds the certification.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Excellent analysis and statistical analyses skills using EXCEL, SPSS (or another major statistics program)

Strong presentation skills with the ability to present to both academic and practitioner audiences

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills

Some knowledge of the HR field and a network of thought leaders in HR and management

Knowledge of and skills in R (programming language)

Physical Requirements

Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.

Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. Visual acuity requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Moderate lifting is required. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to constantly move objects.

Heavy lifting is required. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force to constantly move objects.

Work environment

Work is regularly performed in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.

Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.

Work is regularly performed in a warehouse setting and routinely uses standard office equipment and standard warehouse equipment.

Work is regularly performed in a combination of home office and conference settings, and routinely uses standard office equipment. It may require the maintenance of home office and proximity to an airport for work related travel.

The hiring range for this position is $66,000 to $82,000 per year. This range is an estimate and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
