Electrical Engineering Manager

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer who can also manage a small team of talented engineers. At Mainstream, Electrical Engineers play a critical role in researching and developing power electronics and electronic controls for a wide range of applications, including but not limited to thermal management systems, internal combustion engines, thermochemical conversion systems, and more. A successful candidate will spend approximately 75% of their time solving technically challenging electrical engineering problems and therefore shall have exceptional knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals, an understanding of commercial and military standards, proficiency in design techniques, and skill in test methods. Additionally, 25% of their time will be spent managing an extraordinarily talented team of engineers and thus will have excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, decision-making, and communication skills. They shall have a genuine interest in assisting others achieve their goals.

Specific duties and competencies as an engineer include:

  • Researching and developing new technologies
  • Serving as the technical lead for new product development projects
  • Performing design, modeling, simulation, testing, and analysis
  • Writing new project proposals and reports
Specific duties and competencies as a manager include:
  • Supervising, evaluating, and providing constructive feedback to engineers
  • Assisting with on-the-job training and recommending continuing education for engineers
  • Working with technology leaders to place engineers on multi-disciplinary teams and balance their workloads
Position Requirements
  • BS in electrical engineering required with a minimum GPA of 3.3, MS and PhD candidates preferred
  • Several years of experience performing electrical engineering tasks (design, fabricating, and testing) in one or more of the following areas: power converters, motor drives, sensors, printed circuit boards, digital control systems, and instrumentation
  • Several years of experience leading projects and/or managing a team
  • United States Citizenship required due to US Government ITAR program restrictions
