Job Title: Resident Electrical Engineer Location: Denver CO Duration: Full-time, On-site Job Description: The Resident Electrical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing all electrical aspects of the industrial project in Denver, CO. This role involves managing electrical design, installation, testing, and maintenance while ensuring compliance with safety standards and project specifications. The ideal candidate will be an experienced electrical engineer with a strong background in industrial projects, particularly in heavy electrical systems, automation, power distribution, and control systems. Key Responsibilities: Project Management & Planning Oversee and manage the electrical engineering scope of the industrial project, ensuring timely completion within budget. Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other engineering teams to integrate electrical requirements into the overall project plan. Prepare and review project documentation, including specifications, drawings, and technical data sheets. Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation plans for electrical engineering activities. KPIs: Adherence to project timelines (90% of milestones met on schedule). Budget adherence (within ±5% of the allocated electrical budget). Risk assessment completion and update (monthly reviews). Design & Technical Oversight Review and approve electrical design documents, including single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics. Provide technical expertise in the design and specification of electrical systems such as power distribution, grounding, lighting, and control systems. Ensure compliance with local and national electrical codes (e.g., NEC), standards, and safety regulations. Optimize electrical design for energy efficiency and operational reliability. KPIs: Design accuracy (fewer than 5% design errors identified during implementation). Compliance with relevant electrical codes and standards (100% compliance). Energy efficiency improvements (trackable energy reduction metrics). Site Supervision & Quality Control Supervise electrical installation work on-site, ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety protocols. Conduct regular inspections and quality checks on electrical installations, including cable trays, wiring, transformers, and switchgear. Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to resolve issues related to electrical installations. Ensure proper documentation and tracking of installed electrical components and systems. KPIs: Number of quality non-conformities identified and resolved (target On-time completion of site inspections (100% adherence to inspection schedule). Installation errors identified and corrected before commissioning ( Testing, Commissioning, and Handover Lead the testing and commissioning of electrical systems, including high-voltage and low-voltage systems, motor control centres, and automation equipment. Verify and document the performance of electrical systems, ensuring they meet design specifications and safety requirements. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines during commissioning to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems. Prepare comprehensive test reports and handover documentation for the client. KPIs: Successful completion of testing and commissioning (first-pass yield > 95%). Time taken to resolve issues during commissioning (average resolution time Client satisfaction score at project handover (> 8/10). Safety & Compliance Implement and enforce electrical safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, arc flash safety, and equipment grounding. Ensure all work performed complies with OSHA regulations, NEC, and other applicable local safety standards. Conduct safety audits and provide training to the project team and subcontractors on electrical safety practices. KPIs: Zero electrical safety incidents on-site. Completion of safety audits (100% of scheduled audits conducted). Number of safety training sessions conducted per quarter (minimum 2 sessions). Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate records of electrical installations, test results, and any modifications made during the project lifecycle. Prepare and submit detailed progress reports to the project manager and stakeholders on a regular basis. Provide as-built documentation and updated electrical schematics upon project completion. KPIs: Timeliness and accuracy of progress reports (95% on-time submission). Quality of as-built documentation (100% accuracy). Number of documentation errors identified during project close-out ( Stakeholder Coordination Serve as the primary point of contact for electrical engineering matters with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities. Participate in project meetings, providing updates on the status of electrical engineering activities. Address client queries and concerns related to electrical systems promptly and professionally. KPIs: Client feedback and satisfaction (target > 8/10). Response time to client inquiries (average Number of change requests due to stakeholder concerns (target Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on industrial projects. Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM Power Tools). In-depth knowledge of NEC, OSHA regulations, and other relevant codes and standards. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Skills: Experience with industrial automation, PLCs, SCADA systems, and process instrumentation. Knowledge of renewable energy systems or experience in power plant projects. Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) for electrical systems.
