Job Description
We are Secure Community Network (SCN), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) serving as the official safety and security organization of the Jewish community in North America. The Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for monitoring, investigating, and responding to security alerts, implementing new security technologies, steady-state operations, and change management of security technologies. This role will closely coordinate with SCN's managed service provider (MSP). The engineer will also be responsible for end-user training and advice on cybersecurity policy. This role requires expertise in technical project management and administration.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Plan, implement, manage, monitor, and upgrade security measures to protect SCN's data, systems, and team members
- Develop, implement, and enforce organizational cybersecurity protocols
- Support or train team members on necessary cyber security awareness and practices
- Liaise with SCN's MSP
- Respond to all system and/or network security incidents
- Write scripts and create workflows to automate response and detections
- Test and identify system and network vulnerabilities
- Review the cyber security posture of current and potential third-party vendors
- Maintain awareness of emerging cyber threat intelligence and trends, including, but not limited to, common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs), indicators of compromise (IOCs), zero-day attacks, social engineering campaigns, and other hacking techniques
- Develop, update, and maintain relevant technical documentation and guidance
- Coordinate relevant duties with the Systems Administrator
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong background in cyber security detection, response, architecture, and best practices with at least two years experience as an analyst or an equivalent position
- Extensive knowledge and experience with MacOS, iOS, O365, and cloud-based security
- Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols, LAN/WAN configuration and secure routing, and firewall protocols
- Extensive knowledge of basic Microsoft O365 and Entra security functions
- Experience in intrusion detection, response, and forensics
- Working knowledge of any of the following: Python, C++, C#, GoLang, Rust, Java, git, SQL
- Knowledge of using EDR, XDR and IDS
- Demonstrated capability to design and implement scalable, best-practice solutions
- Documented history of successful project completion
- Adept at translating requirements into technical solutions
- Ability to effectively communicate with and train end-users and key stakeholders
- Responsive to end-user and stakeholder requests and questions
