QA Functional Tester Job at Software Guidance and Assistance, Inc. in Frisco

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a QA Functional Tester for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Banking clients in Frisco, TX . Hybrid schedule 2x weekly onsite

Responsibilities :
• Develop, review, and execute functional test cases based on business and functional requirements.
• Validate software functionality across various environments and platforms to ensure adherence to specifications. Conduct manual testing to identify defects, inconsistencies, and deviations from expected functionality
• Collaborate with development teams to replicate issues and validate fixes.
• Participate in requirement analysis sessions to understand business goals and refine testing strategies.
• Provide detailed, well-structured defect reports, including steps to reproduce, severity, and impact.
• Perform end-to-end functional testing, including integration and system testing.
• Support regression testing by maintaining and executing existing test cases for system updates.
• Work with cross-functional teams to identify and address gaps in the testing process.
• Maintain detailed documentation of test plans, test cases, and results.

Required Skills :
• 10+ years of experience in manual testing, with a focus on functional testing.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and software testing lifecycle (STLC).
• Proficiency in test management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail)
• Experience writing and executing test cases, test plans, and defect reports.
• Basic knowledge of database queries (SQL) for validating backend processes. Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for documenting test results and interacting with stakeholders.

Preferred Skills :
• Experience in test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress) is a plus.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Exposure to API testing tools like Postman or SoapUI
• Knowledge of performance testing tools (optional).
