We are in search of an
Assistant Director of Aquatics
join our Timber team at our Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

About the role

What will you be doing?

Provide leadership and direction to the Timber Ridge Lodge Waterpark including:
·
Assisting the Director of the Waterpark in management of the day-to-day operation of the indoor Waterpark.
·
Acting as the Director in the Director’s absence.
·
Accepting the most effective role needed.
·
Demonstrate the ability to effectively deal with internal and external customer.
·
Able to motivate diverse group of employees to achieve maximum performance.
·
Administer strong organizational and administrative skills.
·
Promotion of a safe and professional workplace through adhering to policies and procedures as outlined in the by the Marcus Corporation, Grand Geneva and the Timber Ridge Lodge.
·
Oversee and assist in maintaining the Waterpark as related to orderliness, cleanliness, and safety.
·
Administrate and ensure enforcement of all Waterpark’s Rules and Regulations.
·
Implement and update the Emergency Action Plans and schedule emergency practice drills.
·
Assist the Director in all aspects of administrative duties related to staff and park operations
including:
·
Recruit, interview, hire, and train all Waterpark team members.
·
Scheduling of all Waterpark employees
·
Submit time card edits and submit to payroll in a timely fashion
·
Track all attendance documentation and submit to Human Resources
·
Disciplinary documentation
Coach, mentor Waterpark associates on a daily basis, enforce all employee policy/procedure and conduct disciplinary action as needed.
Develop and implement on-going training and development plan which will distinguish the Waterpark staff as competent and professional within the industry.
Serve as supervisor and administrative agent providing overall leadership and direction for the Waterpark in accordance with the Timber Ridge Lodge’s policies and philosophies and the laws of the City of Lake Geneva, the County of Walworth, and the State of Wisconsin.
Supervise all Waterpark staff including Life Guards, Slide Attendants, and Lead Lifeguards and Operations Supervisors.
Assign responsibilities to and supervise certified and non-certified staff under his/her direction.
Coordinate the custodial services associated with the Aquatic Center and the hotel’s Director of Housekeeping. The Assistant Director shall communicate all maintenance concerns to the Chief Engineer and outside operations contractor.
Coordinate with operations contractor all water quality concerns including, but not limited to testing water, recording test results, addition of chemicals, and customer comments.
Coordinate and communicate the closing of the Waterpark due to unforeseen circumstances such as broken glass, fecal contamination and water clarity.
As necessary, act in the capacity of lifeguard, slide attendant, lead lifeguard or operations supervisor
Attend workshops/meetings held for the purpose of enhancing the operation of the Aquatic Center and/or hotel.
Assume responsibility for community relations, including communication with staff, other hotel departments, guests, and visitors.
Administer and coordinates emergency first aid as necessary.
Provides surveillance of swimmers and guests during park hours and special events.
Possesses a general knowledge of pools, rides, and attraction operations.
Responds to emergency situation.
Coordinates lifeguard rotations and breaks to ensure alertness and attentiveness of staff at all times.
Supervises staff with the maintenance of a clean and a well-kept park. Responsible for an on-going evaluation of lifeguard staff through VAT, observations and scenario training.
Perform such other duties as assigned.
Enforces staff rules and regulations and renders appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
Handles and communicates daily with guests on a one-on-one basis in a professional, courteous manner.
Coordinates reports and information regarding accidents involving guests and water related activities.
Advises aquatics management of unsafe and unsanitary conditions.
Discuss staff, training programs, recommendations and employees with management.

Performs other duties as assigned and assists other departments as needed.
What do you bring to the role?
Bachelor's degree in recreation, business administration or closely related field, or equivalent experience.
Exceptional verbal and written communications.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a position of supervising 30+ aquatic team members.
Thorough knowledge of Waterpark Management including the following:
Knowledge of and Certification in Aquatics.
Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Lifeguard Instructor, American Red Cross or Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Instructor License.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.

Extensive knowledge of local fire codes and regulations relating Water
·
Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
·
Park when treated as public space under the fire codes.
·
Thorough knowledge of hotel and meeting related services available to clients.
·
Considerable skill to compose professional documents such as memos, proposals and safety related documents.
·
Considerable ability to read the English language sufficient to effectively analyze reports, forms, memos, in-house and third party correspondence.
·
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
·
Punctuality and regular reliable attendance.
·
Must have a professional appearance and maintain grooming standards.
·
Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as the Waterpark is open 360 days a year. Most hours will be evenings and weekends, but candidate must be willing to work a variable schedule to ensure proper operation of the facility.
