We are seeking a missile effectiveness analyst to characterize and evaluate tactical missile system performance against complex and emergent threats. We are a diverse and hardworking team of analysts who support a wide range of government sponsors who have many exciting technical problems. Our team conducts high fidelity physics-based modeling while collaborating with authorities in other fields including: GN&C, RF / IR Engineering, Electronic Warfare, Software Development, Systems Engineering and more!
As a missile effectiveness modeling and simulation analyst, you will… Use engagement-level models and simulations to assess the effectiveness and optimal employment of both legacy and innovative U.S. strike missiles in 1-v-1 or 1-v-few scenarios Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to use, develop and improve missile modeling capabilities Build and leverage novel data visualization tools for large and complex data sets Prepare and present formal documentation to technical specialists, operational partners and government sponsors Collaborate with mission-level analysts and inform their modeling efforts
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you... Have a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or another engineering field Have experience analyzing driving factors behind missile system performance or working with aerospace systems Have strong programming skills with languages such as MATLAB, Python or C++ Are willing, able and passionate about learning missile system concepts in order to improve modeling & simulation tools and perform engagement-level analysis Are able to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret Level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you... Have a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or another engineering field Have 5+ years of experience analyzing driving factors behind missile system performance or working with aerospace systems Have experience using M&S tools such as ESAMS, SHAZAM and/or TMAP/TBA Have programming skills with Simulink or Fortran Have experience working with software versioning systems such as Git Have experience working with external customers and partners Have an interim or final Top Secret security clearance

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
