Leads holistic system design, development, and evaluation throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring compliance with client and government standards. Engages in strategic planning, requirement specification, and performance assessment, while supporting customer needs and business development. Provides solutions to complex technical problems with high innovation. Designs and develops systems/products throughout their lifecycle. Defines quantifiable requirements based on customer needs, planning, and logistics. Ensures standards compliance through formal verification. Translates high-level strategies into system requirements, working with other engineering disciplines. Establishes development standards, practices, and procedures. Designs interfaces and integrates system elements cohesively. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical measures. Acts as customer liaison, shaping requirements and supporting business development. Participates in conceptual design and design documentation. Conducts design reviews to ensure compliance and traceability. Develops verification procedures and customer acceptance test plans. Validates requirements through active participation in testing. Program Description : With a fresh, new 7-year contract, this program provides SETA (Systems Engineering Technical Advisor) & SE&I (Systems Engineering & Integration) services to an important Intelligence Community (IC) customer with a focus on critical, assured space communications and supporting IT infrastructure. The contract support is part of the customer core team focused on all aspects of the systems engineering life cycle beginning with conops development, where we work directly with users, potentially going into harm's way, who will be dependent on these communications systems. We then capture their requirements and work closely with developers to deliver these essential capabilities. We get involved with setting up and running tests to ensure these cutting-edge capabilities will meet the stringent requirements and then we support transition to operations. Once in operations, our teams work closely with the users to make sure critical operations are successful, providing important information to support critical decisions by policy makers. The program also supports client acquisition strategy, future technology development and modernization efforts. Specific Position Description : The position is in Chantilly, VA. This Senior Systems Engineer will support a senior government architect responsible for developing an acquisition strategy for a new Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud environment to house many of the legacy system functions which are currently delivered as HW/SW systems with racks of expensive equipment. Collaborate closely with the government architect on project tasks. Perform project management functions: Develop and manage project schedules. Organize contractor teams to meet project objectives. Apply systems engineering processes to define requirements. Develop architecture views and other documentation as needed. Support briefings to communicate project status to senior managers. Understand customer cloud computing objectives. Formulate detailed plans and recommendations to support: Cloud adoption and migration. Governance and management of cloud environments. Other cloud-oriented activities. Qualifications Required: Must possess and be able to maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance with Poly 10 to 12 years with BS or 8 to 10 years with MS or 5 to 7 years with a PHd. Technical BS in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree. Demonstrated understanding of principles supporting compute, network, storage, and their application within the cloud (AWS and/or Azure). Experience with transitioning software systems from bare metal into cloud environments Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and energetic environment. Demonstrated ability to lead teams requiring collaboration, open communication, and willingness to work in a collaborative work environment. Strong oral and written communication skills Desired: Project management experience Understanding of DevSecOps pipelines and toolsets and how they can work to create an enterprise shared service. Understanding of enterprise architecture principles and practices with the ability to identify, rationalize, and solution opportunities for improvement.
