Compensation Mount Sinai South Nassau provides a salary range in good faith determination of potential compensation to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. Status : Full Time Regular Shift: DAY SHIFT Department: Health Info Management Position Summary Summary: The Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist is responsible for improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation; facilitates clarification to clinical documentation through extensive concurrent interaction with physicians, nursing staff, and other patient caregivers; collaborates with medical records coding staff to support that the appropriate reimbursement and clinical severity is captured for the level of service rendered; supports timely, accurate and complete documentation of clinical information used for measuring and reporting physician and hospital outcomes and educates all members of the patient care team on an ongoing basis. Qualifications Responsibilities: Education Required • Must complete in-house orientation program • RN: BSN, CCDS, CDIP, or CCS preferred. Experience And Skills • Speaks, reads and writes English • 3-5 years recent clinical experience in a hospital setting. Case Management, Chart review or coding experience preferred. • Professional, team player, able to communicate well with others. Strong verbal and written skills. • Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude. • Strong observational skills, analytical thinking, and problem solving skills. • Word, Excel and Access preferred. License/Certifications • Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician in the State of New York. • CCDS, CDIP, or CCS preferred. • OR; In lieu of New York State Licensed Independent Practitioner, CCDS, CDIP or CCS is required Working Conditions Other information: Working Conditions • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn • Sitting, standing and light lifting.
