Axos Bank has an exciting senior leadership position, SVP, Head of Special Assets reporting to the EVP, Chief Credit Officer. This role will run all special assets functional areas including Commercial, SFR and REO Property Management. This position is based out of our HQ in San Diego, California and is onsite. Responsibilities: Develops collection and loss-mitigation strategies and action plans; implements plans to maximize recovery and minimize loss. Responsible for all activities relating to forbearance agreements, bankruptcy, deed in lieu of foreclosure and dispositions. Develops and evaluates alternate courses of action and provides recommendations for comprehensive turnaround plans. Defines and justifies the appropriate exit strategy. Assists Management with the regulatory examinations and 3rd party audit processes to achieve positive results. Provides Senior Management with monthly/quarterly reports including delinquency, non-accrual, charge-off, classified loans and OREO, updates on loan workout strategies and recommendations for further actions based on the updated information obtained. Recommends charge-off of problem loans as appropriate. Prepares periodic reports for the Board of Directors, Committee, Management, auditors, and regulators as required. Provides suggestions for process improvement and analyzing trends in loan portfolios and recommending strategies to minimize credit losses or other risk exposures. Assists EVP, Chief Credit Officer with credit approval process and other credit administration functions as assigned. Proactively manages the resolution of Other Real Estate Owned (OREO) non-consumer properties (multi-family & commercial) including marketing and selling properties as expeditiously as possible and to achieve best market values. Provides technical guidance, training, and expertise to other members of Special Assets Department. Supports departmental functions as required. Participates in special projects, organizational committees, teams and task forces as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. 15+ years in various aspects of Special Assets with increasing responsibility and leadership experience. Extensive C&I and Commercial Real Estate experience required. Knowledge in identifying problem assets and evaluating proper valuation of collateral, cash flow, and other repayment sources available to properly risk grade the loans. Experience working with borrowers to better secure collateral, attain an equity position, or obtain other assets of the borrower to ensure and improve collateral protection. Quality credit management oversight including monitoring loans for defaults and receipt of required payments and information. Ability to work with legal counsel, Senior Management, and other lenders where applicable to develop and execute strategies and action plans, and take appropriate legal actions consistent with the workout strategy, which may include site inspections and client meetings with the legal counsel and other lenders. Ensures the accuracy of documentation for the most complex loan workouts.
