Grants & Contracts Manager . This position is responsible for the oversight, coordination, planning, development, and implementation of all post-award grant and contract activities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Grant & Budget Management (70%) Responsible for the Department of Chemistry grant accounts and faculty funding from other sources including research cost recovery, revenue, gift, and endowment accounts. This includes overseeing actions throughout the fund/award lifecycle to ensure compliance with all Department, University, and sponsor policies. Oversees the day-to-day financial activities for 2.0 FTE. Interpret and apply University, Federal, and sponsor regulations, and advise faculty and staff on appropriate next steps. Recommend and implement program changes to improve grant operations. Utilize multiple financial and record keeping systems to perform analysis, forecasts, and communicate progress of all sponsored project, operations, and gift accounts. Ensure all accounts are reconciled regularly. Perform audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with UW Cost Principles for all transaction types. Create new and modify existing financial report products to meet PI/budget owner needs. Provide ad hoc reports to faculty and department managers as requested. Conduct unit salary audit to ensure faculty staffing plans are on track. Oversee effort tracking and reporting. Track and manage cost share, fabrications, and sub awards. Fiscal Management (15%) Monitor financial activities to identify and eliminate roadblocks. Provide financial review and approval for all Ariba transactions and oversee Department Procard reconciliation. Oversee and provide final approval on financial actions/corrections, including expense transfers and journal vouchers, on faculty accounts. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of programs to minimize the number of actions needed. Maintain and develop systems and databases to manage accounts. Manage Department service agreements. Leadership and Process Improvement (15%) The University of Washington is adopting Workday Financials, a new enterprise financial and budgeting system. This position is expected to have a high level of engagement as we implement this new system and disposition redundant systems. We expect a great deal of change over the next few years as we adapt to this new financial system. This role will play a key part in leading our group through this time of change and ambiguity, and will be expected to do so in a manner that inspires confidence, collaboration and professional growth. Collaborate closely with Pre-award Manager and Purchasing and Logistics Manager as part of leadership team supporting research administration for the department. Work with the Director of Finance to forecast long-term fiscal needs and commitments in support of Department goals, forecast project revenues and expenditures, and conduct detailed analyses of unit needs and resources to support long-term planning. Identify, develop, and implement strategies for improving Department operations. Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, finance, accounting, or comparable field and at least three years of related work experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Previous experience with finance, accounting, business, and/or research administration. Experience developing and managing complex budgets, with precision and accuracy. Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills. Excellent written and spoken communication skills. Ability to take initiative and work effectively within the organization and with external partners. Ability to remain personable, professional, and organized under stressful situations. Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
