Sterling Design Support Services (SDS2), a unit of iQuasar LLC for one of their clients is seeking a Project Engineer to join its engineering firm providing services throughout Dallas, Texas.

  • Position: Project Engineer
  • Location: Dallas, Texas
  • Position Type: On-Site
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Professional Engineer ("PE") license
  • Structural Engineer ("SE") license, preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 or more years experience as an Engineer.
  • 2 or more years of management experience.
  • Must juggle multiple tasks
  • Must have experience with one of the following materials: wood, steel, concrete, or masonry.
  • Must have experience in one of the following building/project types: URM/concrete retrofit, K-12 schools, Community Colleges,2-story or more wood frame,2-story or more steel frame, Concrete tilt-up,2-way podium slab design, Building evaluations and report writing, Thorough familiarity and proficiency with seismic design concepts.
  • Proficiency in the design of at least two of the following lateral load-resisting systems: Ordinary concentric braced frames, Special concentric braced frames, Eccentric braced frames, Plywood shear walls, Special moment-resisting frame (steel or concrete), Concrete/CMU shear wall.
  • The ability to develop simple, efficient, and constructible structural details.
  • The ability to give clear direction to staff engineers and CAD technicians.
  • The ability to work well with clients and others.
  • Must be very familiar with the UBC/CBC.
  • Must have the ability to use some engineering analysis software, e.g., Risa3D, Enercalc, SAP, ETABS, RAM, MS Excel, MS Word.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for maintaining technical customer support with all of the Company's major Clients.
  • Responsible for all quality assurance functions and quality assurance training programs for the Company.
  • Identifies and qualifies vendors and/or subcontractors that are capable of performing according to the Company's standards.
  • Research and develop new ideas, as appropriate, and recommend these measures to the Principal, Associates, and SPEs.
  • Responsible for ensuring engineers have tools and materials that allow them to perform properly.
  • Assists SSEs and SEs, as necessary, with difficult challenges.
  • Works with Client to execute changes to plans and drawings.
  • Customer field site visits.
  • Works with vendors and clients to develop long-term relationships.
  • Performs any other duties and tasks as may be assigned, from time to time, by the Principal, Associates, and SPEs.
